Job Summary

This position is responsible for planning and developing course outlines, presenting the course material to students and evaluating the students’ progress. Courses taught may include U.S. History, World History, Geography, Economics, and Ethnic Studies. This person will join the amazing staff at our LNAS Alternative High School in Minneapolis. 

✅What You’ll Do

  • Create appropriate learning resources and develop lesson plans
  • Maintain appropriate teaching knowledge and utilize technology in the learning environment
  • Teach classes as designated individually or as part of a team.
  • Vary learning materials and presentation to fit needs of students
  • Participate in team effectiveness and registration process
  • Adhere and enforce school’s standards of behavior on a consistent basis
  • Develop and implement appropriate structure, policies and procedures
  • Establish and implement appropriate social/extra curricula activities

What You Bring

Minimum Technology Qualifications

Ability to use:

  • MS Word and Outlook
  • Google Workspace 

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in secondary education or equivalent
  • State of Minnesota Teaching License in secondary social studies required
  • Training and experience in alternative school setting preferred
  • Training and experience in behavior modification techniques and class management preferred
  • Experience working with diverse at-risk youth population (i.e. ethnic, cultural, economic, etc.)
  • Training and experience in assessments and testing
  • Training and experience with school-to career programs preferred
  • Proficient in a second language (other than English) preferred

  • $48,000-$54,000 annually depending on qualifications
