This Divisional Staff Accountant assists with the accounting activities and processes for the organization’s divisional operations under the direction of the Associate Controller. Key duties include processing accounts receivable, financial accounting support, generating journal entries and accounting data, generating reports for internal and external entities, monitoring accounts receivable and payable and performing application system reconciliations to the general ledger.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Recording and processing of resident account receivables including billing, adjustments, and credit refunding.
Processing of deposits.
Accurately records journal entry transactions into the general ledger and/or prepare and record supporting application system transactions.
Reconciles data between the general ledger and other supporting databases.
Generates application system reports as required to meet monthly, quarterly and annual processes.
Provides analytical support regarding budget variances, financial statement accounts and financial performance metrics.
Provide support to the annual budgeting process.
Assists with monthly bank account reconciliations.
Provides year-end support to the annual audit process and requirements for the preparation of audit work papers.
A basic understanding of financial statements, general ledgers, trial balances and accounting theory
Basic understanding of general ledger systems and supporting applications.
Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office
Detail oriented with excellent organization and problem solving skills
Ability to work under pressure and meet assigned deadlines.
Very good interpersonal skills in order to work cooperatively and collaboratively across the organization and with various levels of management.
Ability to be an effective team member and display initiative
Experience in affordable housing and property management is desired
Education & Experience:
Degree in Accounting
2-5-years financial accounting experience
Or a combination of education and experience
