Job Summary

This position assists with the accounting activities and processes for the organization’s operations as a member of the accounting team under the direction of the Corporate Controller.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Completes monthly general ledger account reconciliations.
  • Accurately records journal entry transactions into the general ledger.
  • Generates financial reports as required to meet monthly, quarterly and annual processes.
  • Provides analytical support regarding budget variances, financial statement accounts and financial performance metrics.
  • Provide support to the annual budgeting process.
  • Answers accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
  • Provides year-end support to the annual audit process and requirements for the preparation of audit work papers.
  • Provides support to the establishment and documentation of accounting policies, internal controls and operating procedures (i.e. fixed asset accounting, accounts receivable processes, accounts payable, depreciation schedules, etc.).

Minimum Requirements:

  • Understanding of financial statements, general ledgers, trial balances, accounting theory
  • Detail oriented with excellent organization and problem solving skills
  • Willingness to cross-train with other members of the finance team
  • Ability to work under and meet assigned deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal skills in order to work collaboratively across the organization and with various levels of management
  • Ability to be an effective team member and display initiative
  • Experience in affordable housing, property management, or government grant accounting is very helpful

Technology Qualifications:

  • Experience with Yardi and MAS Accounting Software a plus
  • Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills
  • Understanding of accounting software systems

Education and/or Experience:

  • Degree in Accounting
  • 2-5 years financial accounting experience
  • Or a combination of education and experience
