Job Summary

a full-time school-based licensed therapist to work with students and families in PPL’s Schools. Candidates must have clinical experience with adolescents and families, strong collaborative skills, an interest in school-based mental health, and a deep understanding of alternative educational environments. Prioritizing applicants with lived experience in communities of color and/or LGBTQIA+.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • Provide mental health services and assessment, treatment plan design and development as needed for individual and/or groups to school-based clients.
  • Provide onsite individual or group therapy with enrolled students at PPL schools.
  • Create space for relationship building and goal setting for student nearing graduation through CLP planning (Continuous Learning Plan) with all Credit eligible seniors.
  • Maintain close regular contact with the Senior Director of Education, Lead Teachers, and Plus Coordinator to ensure services are in alignment with schools’ School Improvement Plan’s (SIP) Social social-emotional learning and climate goals.
  •  Ensure timely, thorough, and relevant student documentation is completed, up-to-date, and follow all reporting processes as identified by leadership.
  • Collaborate with community partners, offering resource referral and support to clients with challenging mental health symptoms and systemic barriers to receiving adequate care.
  • Engage in professional development in order to meet licensing requirements and ensure culturally responsive best practices are applied.
  • Engage as a member of appropriate mental health communities.
  • Offer quarterly professional development sessions for PPL teachers and support staff.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

There are none at this time, but based on candidates' licensing and clinical experience, there are potential growth areas.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in social work, Family Therapy or School Based Mental Health.
  • Meets DHS criteria LMFT, LPCC, LICSW
  • Ability to work independently and in a collaborative work environment
  • Experience working with diverse communities
  • Strong listening, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Interest in working full-time onsite in a school environment

Education and/or Experience:

  • Master’s degree in social work, Family Therapy, or School-Based Mental Health.
  • Meets DHS criteria LMFT, LPCC, LICSW
  • Fluency in a Language other than English (Spanish or Somali)
  • Previous experience working in an alternative school environment

Salary/Wage: $62,000-75,000.00/Yr., DOQ
