Job Summary

PPL is in search of a full-time Safety and Security Coordinator. This role coordinates mitigation of physical and environmental safety issues at PPL-owned and managed properties, thereby ensuring that PPL meets and maintains the highest possible staff, resident, and neighborhood safety and security standards.   

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Protects life, safeguards property and maintains peace at all PPL locations and through enforcement of local, state, and federal laws as well as PPLs rules and regulations.
  • Regularly visit PPL properties, document notable situations or observations regarding property safety and maintenance (security doors, windows, and lighting) and/or evidence of possible illegal activity.
  • Create and maintain respectful, collaborative relationships with PPL staff, residents, neighbors, community stakeholders, and law enforcement personnel.
  • Assist with creating proactive, strategic plans to address security issues at "hot" properties.
  • Monitor cameras systematically; retrieve and assess footage of incidents.
  • Maintain regular, consistent communication with PPL site staff.
  • Investigates and completes Incident Reports of events resulting in significant property damage, police intervention, and/or injury to staff, residents, or neighbors in or on PPL property
  • Respond to calls from PPL staff for emergency assistance, including at PPL offices or school sites, and take action to protect persons first and property second.
  • Act as a visible presence to deter loitering and illegal activity.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Schedule: Varies.  Weekend and evening hours may be required on occasion).

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position has no employee supervisory responsibilities. 

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent communication skills, written, oral and electronic.
  • Capacity to build and maintain relationships with people from a diverse spectrum of backgrounds, including diverse racial and cultural communities.
  • Capacity to use technology, including Outlook, Microsoft Word, Xcel, and remote camera viewing software.
  • Familiarity and comfort with key neighborhoods in which PPL properties are located.
  • Demonstrated commitment to PPL values around safety and security, including respect, kindness, compassion, relationship, de-escalation, communication, honesty, and trust.


Hours: Monday- Friday, 40 hours a week

Education and Experience:

  • At least 1-3 years of experience in safety and security
  • High School Diploma or GED is required
  • Military or law enforcement training / experience preferred.
  • Certified in Mental Health and Situational de-escalation techniques training.
  • Valid Minnesota driver's license with good driving record and own vehicle with proof of auto insurance.

Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.

PPL's work structure has evolved into a Hybrid Model, balancing on-site presence at the office or satellite locations (60%) and remote work from home (40%). It's important to highlight that, particularly within the property management field, the flexibility in working hours and remote work options will be contingent upon the performance of each portfolio.

Salary: $22.00 - $24.00 Hr., DOQ
