Youth Program Assistant Internship -New Foundations

The Resident Services team provides transformative affordable housing and elevates the voices of the communities we serve that are disproportionately affected by systemic inequities. PPL provides 1,600 housing units and serves nearly 13,000 people annually in the Twin Cities aiding in long-term stable housing so that our community can live their best lives. PPL integrates race equity organization-wide through multiple strategies and systems change initiatives.

Job Summary:

The Youth Program Assistant Intern will play a key providing programming for youth who have experienced homelessness. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about youth development, education, and community engagement.

YPAs bring their strengths and passions to develop, facilitate, and engage youth in enrichment activities while building supportive, positive relationships with youth, parents, and community volunteers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with staff/volunteers and program partners to deliver program sessions.
  • Plan, prep and facilitate age-appropriate enrichment activities for youth
  • Develop relationships with youth participating in programming
  • Serve as a role model to youth through consistent attendance and reliability 
  • Assist with behavior management and redirection as needed
  • Set up, organize, and clean program space
  • Assist with other projects as assigned

What we are looking for:

  • Self-starter and self-directed, ability to work independently on assigned projects.
  • Experience with youth (after-school program, camp counseling, tutoring, etc.).
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, problem-solving and time management skills.
  • Able to work with people from diverse backgrounds and engage diverse youth.
  • Ability to adhere to HIPPAA and data privacy requirements.
  • Must pass criminal background check.
  • Willingness to work on site and directly with youth.

Work Hours:

Wednesdays 4:00pm - 8:00pm and additional day a week- Approximately 6-10 hours/week; some evening hours required (until 8pm Wednesdays) – position starts 9/3/2025
