Our Maintenance Technicians are a fundamental piece of our mission that allow us to provide individuals and families with transformative affordable housing. This individual will work on a dynamic team of professionals to ensure safe, clean, and well-maintained housing for PPL residents. The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for ensuring the resolution of assigned service requests, trouble-shooting of repairs, and assisting in apartment turnovers.
PPL develops and sustains quality, affordable housing for lower-income families and individuals through new construction, renovation and management. For over 40 years, PPL has created housing and stabilized neighborhoods by working with non-profit partners, neighborhood groups, and agencies to build or renovate affordable housing units. Today, PPL owns or manages more than 1,100 units of affordable or supportive housing throughout the Twin Cities metro area.
Regularly inspect grounds, building, plumbing, electrical, major equipment, etc.
Responsible for emergency maintenance and on-call as assigned on rotating basis (approximately one week every two months for 7-15 hours overtime)
Maintain a positive and professional relationship with residents at assigned sites
High school diploma or equivalent required, technical or vocation training preferred
Two years property management maintenance, construction, or other closely related field
Or any combination or education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job duties satisfactory
Experience with HVAC systems, electrical, plumbing, and appliance repair desired
Boilers license preferred
Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle with current insurance and no more than three moving violations in the last three years as determined by our insurance carrier
Must be comfortable working with diverse populations
Excellent communication skills, written and oral
Must provide some minimum basic tools such as a hammer, screwdrivers, etc.
